Swiss Genietruppen (Engineer) Faschinenmesser 1842/52, made by Wester & Co of Solingen, with leather scabbard.
Blade is the early sawback type. Saw teeth are slightly rounded. Heavy surface mark on the sawback side of the guard. Faint canton stamp on the guard; too faint to identify. Light surface marks throughout the grip and pommel.
Leather scabbard has light scratches. Light cracks down the sides. Chape is missing one of the two rivets. Leather hanger is torn.
