Swiss model 1899 Officer's Sword, produced by E&F Hörster of Solingen in 1901. Includes scabbard.
Single edged blade, double hollow ground on both sides. Nickel plating has flaked off at the tip.
Right side of the blade at the ricasso is stamped with the serial number, a roman numeral III, and a Swiss ordnance stamp. Left side of the ricasso is stamped with the year and E&F Horster's manufacturer stamp. Leather pad at the ricasso.
The roman numeral III indicates that this sword is the longest length offered, with a blade length of 860mm and total length of 1050mm with the scabbard in place.
Fishskin grip is in good to very good condition with some discoloration from handling and age. Silver-plated copper wire bindings are solid.
Mild surface mark on the front of the guard on the right edge.
Scabbard has light to mild pitting throughout. Large dent on the right side.
