Product Description
Swiss Army Field Telephone model 53 (Armeetelefon Modell 1953), also known as a Desk Telephone Model 53 (Tischtelephon Mod. 53) manufactured by Albiswerk AG (who would later become Siemens). Around 10,400 were manufactured, with 7,400 manufactured from 1953 to 1960, and another 3,000 from 1961 to 1963. It began use in 1955 and is still in use today.
Sold as a set of four securely packaged within a large green crate. Label on the front indicates quantity of four Army Telephones (GER: Armee Tf; FR: Tf d'armée), model 53. Crate is painted green on the outside, gray on the inside. Each phone is individually serialized. Serial numbers: 61580, 61417, 3545, 12531.
Each phone is housed in an integrated Bakelite black case with lid and have a wired handset and crank. The crank on each phone has been tested and does generate current. Optional rotary dialer is not included with the package.
Each phone measures 9.1" x 6.1" x 3.3" and weighs 5.6 lbs.
