Scarce Antique Swiss W+F Bern model 1897 Cadet Rifle, produced in the first year of production 1898, in very good condition with 85% finish. 4/5 Bore (bright bore, mildly worn rifling). 4/5 Stock. Bolt matching serial number.
Right side of the stock has mild pressure marks throughout the butt. Light gouging around the Swiss ordnance stamp. On the left side of the stock there are heavy pressure marks at the rear of the butt and light gouges at the center of the butt. Light gouging along the upper edge of the stock near the receiver. Light gouging between the two barrel bands. On the underside of the stock there are light gouges between the rear sling mount and the trigger guard. Light gouging between the barrel bands. Heavy pressure marks along the comb.
Receiver finish is lightly worn and has mild patina. Light surface marks throughout the receiver. Large scratches behind the loading slot. Rear barrel band has light finish wear and light edge wear. Front barrel band has heavy finish wear and heavy patina. Heavy finish wear and mild patina on the trigger guard.
One of only 2,100 produced that qualify as an antique rifle.
