Product Description
The Romanian M44 Mosin Nagant Carbine was manufactured by the Cugir arsenal in low numbers (some estimates say around 70,000 total for the three years it was in production) and availability today is scarce. This Romanian manufactured M44 Mosin Nagant Carbine, manufactured in 1955, is in excellent condition with 95% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Full matching serial numbers (furniture is non-serialized). Integrated side folding bayonet is included and attached, as well as the original cleaning rod. Overall bluing is very dark with only a few blemishes: the trigger guard has some light edge wear as well as two marks in the finish on the bottom, the bayonet has a couple of small marks in the finish, and the bayonet lug has some friction wear from the bayonet folding action. Front sight blade has a slight forward cant to it, globe is undamaged.
The barrel shank is stamped with a wreath with the initials RPR (Romanian People's Republic), manufacturing year of 1955, the carbine's serial number, and a manufacturing mark of an arrowhead in a triangle, not to be confused with the Russian Izhevsk mark, which is a full arrow inside a triangle. At the woodline is an additional stamp commonly noted as a "Bosnian shield" stamp.
Some of the shellac has flaked off but otherwise the furniture is in very good condition. There is a gouge on the left side of the stock at the grip, a small ding at the comb, as well as a gouge on the right side of the stock below the right side finger groove. There are also a few scattered small dents and some handling marks; most of the dents are found on the handguard. The stock has a "C in diamond" stamp near the rear sling mount, indicative of a Romanian stock, as well as an arrowhead in a triangle. There is an additional stamp on the right side of the stock: an equilateral triangle containing the number "110" in the center, the letter "F" at the top point, "M" at the left point, and "A" at the right point.
5 round en-bloc clip is not included. C&R eligible. Discreet import engraving.
