The H&K P9S is a double action, semi-automatic pistol that is known for its accuracy. It utilized roller delayed blowback with its fixed barrel, and is one of the first pistols to use polygonal rifling. Common with European pistols, it features a heel release. There is a lever on the left side of the frame that serves three purposes: it will release the slide if in slide lock, it can cock the internal hammer for single action mode, and is also used in conjunction with the trigger to decock the internal hammer. A manual safety is found on the left side of the slide. A hammer cocked indicator is found at the rear of the grip.
