The Infanteriegewehr Modell 1842 is the first standardized rifle used by the Swiss military. Originally a smooth bore muzzle loader, this model designation of 1842/59/67 reflects that it was updated in 1859 and then 1867 with the Milbank-Amsler system to allow for breech loading. This specific model also has a rifled barrel, with a shiny bore, sharp rifling and no sign of rust nor pitting.
