Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1898, in very good condition with 90% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture had been sanded and refinished.
On the right side of the stock there light gouges at the pistol grip. Heavy gouging before the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock there are light gouges at the rear of the butt. Light gouges around the finger groove and to the right of the finger groove. On the underside of the stock there is a light gouge before the rear barrel band. The comb has a pair of light gouges and there is a light gouge around the top of the grip, near the receiver tang.
All bluing had been previously refurbished. Receiver has light edge wear and light surface marks around the rear. Heavy edge wear around the forward edge of the loading slot. Mild tool marks on the rear barrel band screw. Light pitting on the trigger guard and magazine base.
No P stamp noted. 10 stamped below the serial number, indicating armory refurbishment in 1910.
Top bolt knob is cracked. Bottom bolt knob is chipped.
