Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1898, in very good condition with 75% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knob matching serial number.
On the right side of the stock, there are light to mild pressure marks throughout the butt. Light pressure marks between the bolt stop and the finger groove, and there is a light pressure mark off the left edge of the finger groove. Mild scrapes to the right of the finger groove. There are a few heavy pressure marks just before the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock, There are light pressure marks throughout the butt and a few mild pressure marks on the pistol grip. Multiple light pressure marks, light scratches, and a few light gouges around the finger groove. On the underside of the stock, there is a heavy gouge to the right of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. The comb of the stock is stamped for Canton Vaud. Light pressure marks throughout the handguard.
Light to mild finish wear throughout the receiver, with the heavier finish wear noted around the loading slot and over the chamber. Heavy patina over the chamber. Fair edge wear around the lightening cuts, mild edge wear at the rear edge, heavy edge wear at the forward edge. Hidden underneath the handguard, the barrel had been worked using some sort of abrasive to treat rust, and has removed a majority of the bluing. Moderate to heavy finish wear and mild patina on the rear barrel band. Heavy finish wear and mild patina on the front barrel band. Fair finish wear and mild patina on the magazine plate. Heavy finish wear and mild patina on the trigger guard. Moderate to heavy finish wear and mild patina on the magazine.
Receiver is P stamped. ·8 stamped below the serial number, indicating armory refurbishment in 1908.
Upper bolt knob is cracked.
