D.W.M., or Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken, was founded in 1896 and based in Berlin. D.W.M. is famous for introducing the Luger circa 1900, they are also well known for supplying the world with many Mauser rifle systems throughout the early 1900's. Though D.W.M. was once at the forefront of firearms technology, following WWI, they were not allowed to produce military equipment, and following WWII the Berlin based branch of the company pivoted to producing railroad and public transportation equipment under Deutsche Waggon- und Maschinenfabriken GmbH, but still used the original DWM logo.
